![]() I am happy with the work I have done to it. I want to wrap the handle with leather and I will do some wood burning to it - with a wood burner I am not going to torch it- I got a few Idea's Im thinking about trying. I used a heavy duty paste paint stripper on the head and the thick black paint came off easily. I removed the handle sanded and stained it a light blond color to go with the little grain the wood handle had. The old Norse hawk did through nice though. ![]() The handle cracked so it was time to replace it and I figured I could just as well get a new one with a hammer end like I should have begin with. I have used the same CS Norse hawk for about 10 years it been a good tool. I got a Cold Steel Rifleman's hawk in the mail Tuesday but I have had plans to refinish one of these for a long while now.
